"Bring on the rain"

Well it has been quite some time since I have posted anything. November is a busy month for me, and my favorite time of year! It has been raining all day so I decided to call it a night and be lazy. Have not done this in awhile ha. So YAY I have time to blog!

November kicks off with Chad’s birthday. We got together with a few friends and went to The Fillin’ Station. When we got back to my apartment we had cupcakes from a bakery in town called Ann Olivia’s Sweet Shop a.k.a DELICIOUS.

Lately God has been clearing some things up for me and I am so happy that He has blessed me with such awesome people. He has given me just what I need to stay encouraged, and keep trying to become a better person. I am so grateful for my AWESOME friends! I can see him using me even through my work. I just happen to get the walk in’s with amazing stories and these stories just happen to come up while I’m cutting their hair. It gives me the chills to see Him placing these things in my path to slowly show me the things He wants me to know. He has a plan for me and I pray that I can continue to see it! (Victoria and Cody being nerdy! I love it)

My FAVORITE band came to Memphis. Needtobreath! They are a Christian band and I love their sound. I was able to be right in front! AHH I still can’t believe I got to see them. The concert was unforgettable.
On to Thanksgiving! (The best food holiday EVER… and let me tell ya, I’M THANKFUL) J My family had a lot going on this Thanksgiving, several sick family members and my grandmother had surgery on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. So needless to say we didn’t really have a plan for the holiday. I was so excited when Chad told me his family was getting together for lunch because his parents take southern cooking to the extreme. I hope I can pick up their cooking skills one day. I had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving and I am so lucky to have my friends and family.

I am ready for Christmas now, most of my shopping is done and my decorations are

up! This is my first year to have my own place and I had been waiting to get my first tree. I’m not really sure why I was so excited about that but I was. HAHA I have my apartment all decorated now with my cute tree and my snow village. My grandmother has gotten me a piece of the Dept.56 Snow Village for Christmas since I was old enough to appreciate them. I didn’t set them all out this year, but I’m very proud of my little village. J
(My wreath I made!)

Well I think that wraps it up! Hope everyone has a good week. Here is the song I’ve been singing all day. (If you know me well, you know that I can take anything someone says and turn it into a song. I’m sure it can be aggravating but I consider it a talent!! ;D )

We all had a great time in New York. I hope I will be able to go back one day.-Kayla

New York Day 4

Sunday we meet up with some friends of Meg and Chad at Starbucks. We were all getting together to do some community service type stuff for their church. I met some really awesome people; one of them was named Jambi. I loved how open she was with her faith and didn't hesitate to ask questions she wanted to know the answers to. I wish I could be more like that! For lunch we ate at The Shake Shack, and I have officially found the best burger in the world!! We sat outside and the squirrels there were huge and they would literally eat from your hands.
Well I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

New York Day 3

We got a late start on our 3rd day. We went to Coney Island. We took the subway and it was on the complete other side. This was the most interesting ride!! There was a man that was clearly drunk and speaking Spanish and laughing to himself. He had a backpack he kept pulling out his bottle of jack and drinking it like it was a bottle of coke! He had a sample bottle of cologne and keep spraying it into his hands and rubbing it all over his face and neck ha. Although very entertaining this was the one time I really felt unsafe. He kept pointing at us saying "cafe" that was the only word I could make out. We finally get to Coney Island and head to Nathan's. Nathan's is where they have the hotdog-eating contest. Coney Island was the only place we went that was less than what I had expected. I'm glad I went and we saw some interesting things but I will skip this if I ever go back.
We went to Time Square and it was getting dark at this point. MAN that is the time to go! It was so pretty to see all the billboards flashing with bright colored lights. We went to my first Broadway show. We saw Memphis. How ironic we went to New York to watch a show about Beale Street. It was a great play. I wish we had time to see more plays.

"I'll look after you"

Four years ago today Chad told me he loved me for the first time. Little did I know it was only the beginning of our relationship. My "High School Sweetheart" turned into the person I want to spend the rest of my life with! He is the person I can tell anything and the one that can make me smile when I'm furious or even when I'm crying. I'm so blessed to have him in my life.
Maybe not the best picture but a GREAT memory! This was taken at The Fray concert, they sing mine and Chad's song "Look After You."

New York (Day 2)

Day 2 of New York was amazing! We started with the Empire State Building. It was a beautiful sight and seeing the city from that high up almost didn’t look real. We went to the 86th floor and got some awesome pictures.

We also saw the Statue of Liberty! We took a ferry and for some reason before you could get on the ferry they pretty much had airport security. Ha So I had to take off my jewelry and what not and as we were trying to find a seat I try to put my trollbead bracelet back on and unlatch the wrong side and most of my charms went rolling around on the floor. So that was interesting trying to find all my charms while people are steadily getting on the boat haha. When I saw the statue I couldn’t believe how big it really is. Next we went to Ellis Island.
Later we met up with Chad and Meg and had dinner at this little greek place called Aphrodite. Chad and Meg had a comedy show that night so went to the comedy club and had a great night. I laughed until my stomach hurt. Great ending to day 2!

.New York. Day 1

So as you guys know I got back from New York about a week ago and I figure this would be a great topic to blog about!
((Day 1))

If you know my sister you know that she is an organized person! (I wish I could be more like that) Well before we left for our trip she emailed me our itinerary filled to the brim of everything I could think about looking at in New York and then some!

The first day was by far the busiest and it was all the free touristy sites. Which is right up my ally! Our day started out at Central Park. I had no idea how big it was. The weather was a little chilly but over all a great day for being outside.

We went to the Plaza Hotel. Then right across from that was F.A.O. Schwarz, any young kids dream. I guess I am truly a kid a heart because this was one of my favorites. It was the toy store from Home Alone and the home of the huge piano from the movie Big!
We went to Little Italy and ate at this Italian place called Caffe Napoli. We walk in and got a little nervous because we were the only ones there. Also got grossed out a little considering behind the counter was an 8x10 picture of a big ole white dog’s face! Ew No one wants to see a picture of a dirty dog before they eat there lunch. Haha Then they brought out the bread and dipping mixture and all my doubts went away. Either I was extremely hungry or that was the best bread I had ever eaten J.
After lunch we walked down canal street and heard lowered voices say “channel, coach, rol-ex washessss” It felt like I was partaking in a drug deal trying to purchase a purse HAHA. So I find the purse I want and tell him I’ll give $30 for it.. The man literally laughs at me and walks off. I wanted to tell him, this purse is FAKE! Why in the world would I give you $80 for it.
Next we went to the the famous bull statue. Then head over to ground zero to see the memorials for the World Trade Center. That was pretty moving to see how the world pulled together like that.. I got to see little pictures that kids and drawn and sent. I saw some photos of some of the people who were killed that day. I just can’t even imagine what the people in the city thought when they saw what had happened that day.
We went to Grand Central Station. There are a couple of things that are in the station for you to find, like there is one origial brick the looks different from all the rest. Then there is an area where one person can stand in one corner and another person in the other. If you whisper into the corner the person in the other corner can hear you! HOW COOL IS THAT! We tested it and it really does work. That’s about it for day one.. as you can see we were pretty tired by the end of the day.

Lazy Weekend

I don't think there is anything more calming than being outside and not hearing cars and loud noises, just birds chirping and a light breeze. Chad’s family has a new hammock swing and I am in love with it. Chad’s back yard has a lake and the swing goes just to the edge of the water. The weather was great, if only the misquotes didn’t love me I would be able to sit out there in that swing for hours.
This is the view from the swing.
Now for the extreme opposite! Ha. Just found out about a week ago that I am going to New York. I am so blessed. I can’t think of anyone I would rather share this experience with other that my sweet sister. My sister and her husband Chance invited me to tag along. We are staying with Chance’s brother. I’m happy that we will be able to get advice on where to tour from his brother since he has lived in New York for quite some time now. I’m leaving in a couple of weeks and I’m counting down the days!
Have a great weekend.

Not so Moody Mondays

Ok so its offical Mondays are my new favorite day, not counting the weekend of course.
After I get off work I head to Oxford to my sweet friend Nicole's apartment for our Bible study. We are doing the Beth Moore Esther study, and OH MY it is so good. I can already tell that God is going to do some amazing things through us girls. I am blessed to get to do this study with Nicole, Caitlin, and Victoria. They are awesome people and they inspire me to try to be a better person. This study has opened my eyes already to some things that I am struggling with that I didn't even know about until recently..haha Don't you just love it when God tell you something unexpected... Tells you that you need to fix this even if it makes you uncomfortable. I love Mondays so much now. My new, much needed "Girl Time" is the perfect way to start my week and keep my eyes looking in the right direction. I hope everyone has a GREAT week and keep your head clear..never know when God may speak to you.

Sweet September

This was a wonderful weekend start to finish! We celebrated my mom and dad's birthday, so my sister and brother-in-law came to Hernando. We ate at Red Lobster. Yumm (cheese biscuits)!!

This weekend was also the Water Tower 5K. It was the most fun out of all the 5k's I've done so far because it was basically a family event haha! I think that having the ones you love and love to be around makes anything more enjoyable. I'm so blessed to have these people in my life. They encourage me and they're some of the best role models there are.

I love when Brooke and Chance come to town. They are two of the most fun people!! They always have something new to show us, it could be anything from games to YouTube videos. This time they showed us the YouTube videos called autotune the news. It's a group of people that take real news clips and make them into a song. I think we all had catchy tunes stuck in our head the entire weekend.
